Fairsight Blind Spots

See what others miss! Bad hires hurt. They cost time, energy, and trust — and a poor leadership choice can leave lasting marks on your organization. Blind Spots from Fairsight helps you see risk areas before they become problems. The test highlights traits and behaviours that may turn into obstacles under pressure — and points to where there’s room to grow.

Why it matters

Even with Big Five tests, structured interviews, and reasoning tests, leadership missteps are still common. In a study by Fairsight (n = 176, 2025) we explored 24 dysfunctional leadership behaviours. The results were clear:

  • 83 % had a manager who avoided conflict
  • 77 % experienced leaders focused on themselves
  • 76 % saw noticeable mood swings
  • 71 % had managers who bent rules to reach goals
  • 70 % said their leader overestimated their own ability
  • 99 % had encountered at least one of these 24 behaviours

The leadership paradox

The very traits that help people reach leadership roles can also cause trouble later. Confidence, charisma, and drive are often rewarded in recruitment — but can hide risk behaviours that affect engagement and performance.

Beyond Big Five

Traditional personality tests only show part of the picture. Blind Spots goes further, measuring how people react when pressure is high or control slips. Built on solid research (Harms 2022; O’Boyle 2015), it captures traits that Big Five tests can miss — explaining the other 40 % of what drives behaviour under stress.

The Pollyanna trap

Many problematic leaders pass through hiring undetected. A key reason is the Pollyanna syndrome — our tendency to overlook warning signs and focus on what feels positive. Blind Spots provides an objective, science-based view so you can see both strengths and risk factors clearly.
